Juice Fast UPDATE!




This is my 3 day juice fast update!

I completed the 3 day juice fast on Wednesday and I feel great. I feel lighter I have more energy and yesterday I was ready and willing to get back to eating clean and really getting back on track with my training for the summer and into the next fall semester back at school.

Like I said Tuesday, I started Monday morning weighing 145.8lbs. I woke up Thursday morning weighing 141.4lbs! that’s 4.4lbs in 3 days! Keep in mind that's not fat weight. That is a combination of water and waste that builds up in the body but it does kick start your metabolism and get you ready to burn fat in the upcoming days/weeks as you get started eating again [eating healthy!]

Next, this isn’t just an update, this is also a correction to the post I wrote on Tuesday. I told you that the point of juicing was to skip the chewing and by only drinking you get the nutrients to your body faster. While this is not false it is incomplete. I later learned that juicing removes all of the fiber from the fruits and vegetables. Why is that an important fact to know? When we eat fiber our body attempts to digest that first, getting to the other nutrients later. Because you aren’t taking in any fiber while juicing your body needs to use other methods to get the nutrients into your system, and gets to them right away, making them even more accessible to the body and further promotes detoxing!

My confession!
I inadvertently cheated on my juice fast! L Because I thought juicing was only to liquefy the food I used the blender for a few meals to make smoothies because it’s honestly so much easier to clean a blender than a juicer. Blending food doesn’t remove the fiber! So in respect to the juicing fast smoothies are actually considered to be “eating” even though you are still drinking. So no smoothies on the 3 day juice fast!

A few last things to consider before starting
  1. Don’t jump into the fast and then eat gross processed garbage as soon as you’re done. Your body is going to be extremely sensitive to food from not eating to its important to feed it right in the days just after you’re done.
  2.  Listen to your body! If you feel like juicing is affecting your health in a negative instead of a positive way please stop and grab something to eat. Determination is important and it’s not going to be easy but it’s even more important to know when something is hard and you need to push through it and when something is hurting you and you need to stop.
